Description
Size: 12" x 10"
Medium: Mixed - Watercolour and Acrylic on Torn Rice Paper Over Acid Free Mat Board
FMV: $350.00
Gail grew up in Montreal and Winnipeg and became a bacteriology technologist. She was always interested in art but thought that you had to be born with talent. On a whim, she and a friend took a watercolour course in White Rock in 1987. Art , in many aspects , has been an important part of her life for over 30 years in Vernon.
Another interest has been growing and arranging flowers.
This is a mixed media piece. The substrate is acid free mat board layered with randomly torn pieces of rice paper. The large iris shape and the background are painted in watercolour. The buds and the spent blossom are painted over them in acrylic.
The inspiration for this image was a clump of purple irises in the garden ---one way of teaching artistic licence !June 27,2020
